Team Leader, Web Design

The web design team lead is responsible for providing design leadership and general oversight of the web team, and is the first point of contact for the web team for daily tasks. This person assists in representing the web design discipline to the company and is a capable and knowledgeable leader in all aspects of graphic design for web.

 

Responsibilities:


Web Design team leadership: support team members in their daily tasks, communicate priorities as set out by manager, maintain team/project schedules, and support team with approvals for low to medium profile projects.

Attend project and design meetings on behalf of the department.

Design for high profile, emergency and regular projects.

Ensure design consistency across the website. Create and maintain web design standards and guidelines.

Stay up-to-date with latest design trends and techniques.

Provide design mentorship and support training of team.

Communication with other departments when manager is unavailable.

 

Qualifications:

 

Diploma or degree in design for web, or equivalent.

5+ years in graphic design, preferably web related.

Motion design experience an asset.

Fluency in Flash, Photoshop, and Illustrator.  Working knowledge of HTML and CSS.

Experience with MS Office.

Fluent in English.

 

Skills and Abilities:

 

Great communication and team building skills.

Thorough knowledge of graphic design skills including aesthetic and technical aspects.

Familiar with web compliant design and usability principles.

Well-developed oral, written and interpersonal communication skills.

Able to assist team members in design related problem solving.

Self-motivated, and able to work under very tight deadlines.

Can effectively represent the web discipline in meetings and internal forums.

Able to ensure company standards of quality are maintained on every project.

Passion for innovative web design.
